MESSAGE
FROM MAYOR
MUFI HANNEMANN
Hawaii Book &
Music Festival
Honorary Chairman
I
extend my warmest aloha to you on the occasion of the second
Hawaii Book & Music Festival.
Hawaii is a treasure trove
of storytellers and musicians, and this festival will be a
wonderful opportunity for them to showcase their talents, and
to revel in the remarkable creativity of outstanding authors and
musicians from Hawaii and around the world. Whether you enjoy an
obake story told in pidgin English, a traditional Hawaiian folk
melody in slack key guitar, or the sheer diversity of literary
and musical talent of our island culture, this event will have
something for you—and in a setting that reflects the beauty of
Hawaii.
The people of the City and
County of Honolulu join me in congratulating the organizers of
the Hawaii Book & Music Festival and in wishing everyone a
memorable weekend of story and song.
